President Barzani discusses domestic relations and judicial questions in Baghdad

President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with Iraq’s Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, in Baghdad on the evening of May 14.

During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in a productive discussion about the overall situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They addressed various shared concerns and focused on the work program of the Federal Iraqi Government, as well as plans and strategies for promoting economic development in Iraq.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of ongoing dialogue between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. Both sides emphasized the need for continuous communication across all sectors to find sustainable solutions based on the principles outlined in the Constitution and the law.

During his visit to Baghdad President Nechirvan Barzani also held a meeting with Chief Justice Fayeq Zedan, Head of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council. The President commended Chief Justice Zedan for his dedication and contributions in addressing the challenges faced by the country.

The discussions also touched upon President Nechirvan Barzani’s recent visit to Tehran and his engagements with the leadership and high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They exchanged views on the current progress in negotiations between Erbil and Baghdad aimed at finding solutions to existing issues.

President Nechirvan Barzani held also a meeting with the President of the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq, Judge Jassim Muhammad Abboud, on the same day. They discussed matters related to the Constitution, peace and stability, and the overall well-being of the country, addressing various issues concerning the current state of affairs in Iraq.
