At the start of his visit to Baghdad today, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, Prime Minister of the Federal Government.
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the Federal Prime Minister on assuming office and reaffirmed the KRG’s support for the success of his government in serving all Iraqi citizens and components without distinction.
Prime Minister Barzani also stressed the importance of fundamentally resolving the issues between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government on the basis of the Constitution and with respect for the federal status of the Kurdistan Region.
The Federal Prime Minister expressed his pleasure at receiving Prime Minister Barzani and emphasized that all Iraqis are partners in this country and share the goal of finding solutions, reaching agreements, and serving all citizens and components without distinction.
Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the federal government and the KRG in order to resolve differences and overcome the challenges.
The Prime Minister also met Haibat Al-Halbousi, Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, to discuss the political situation in Iraq, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and the importance of resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and in accordance with the Constitution.
He also met Judge Faiq Zaidan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, for talks focused on the rule of law, the role of the judiciary, and the need to protect constitutional rights and the federal system in Iraq.
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani took the opportunity to also hold talks with National Approach Alliance leader Abdulhussein Al-Mousawi, Special Adviser to the Federal Prime Minister Bakr Al-Samarrai, Badr Organization Secretary-General Hadi Al-Amiri, Victory Alliance leader Haider Al-Abadi, Iraqi Foundation Alliance leader Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, Taqaddum Party leader Mohammed Al-Halbousi, Azm Alliance leader Muthanna Al-Samarrai, Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Secretary-General Qais Al-Khazali, State of Law Coalition leader Nouri Al-Maliki, Reconstruction and Development Alliance leader Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji, Iraqi political figure Khamis Al-Khanjar, Popular Mobilization Forces Commission Chairman Falih Al-Fayyadh, National Wisdom Movement leader Ammar Al-Hakim, a Tasmeem Alliance delegation headed by MP Amer Al-Fayez, former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, Islamic Supreme Council head Humam Hamoudi, and former Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi to discuss Iraq’s political situation, Erbil-Baghdad relations, constitutional rights, federalism, cooperation, and ways to resolve outstanding issues through dialogue.
