Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with a high-level US delegation to discuss bilateral relations and threats of terrorism in the region.
Prime Minister Barzani welcomed State Department Counselor, Derek Chollet, White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Joey Hood, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East, Dana Stroul.
Prime Minister Barzani extended his congratulations to President Joe Biden on his first 100 days in office, and welcomed support for peace and stability in the Middle East as a priority for his administration. He reiterated that the Kurdistan Region will proudly continue to be a key regional ally for the US.
Finally, the Prime Minister highlighted the strong relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the US, which continues to deepen through initiatives such as the US-Iraq Strategic Dialogue and the joint efforts by the International Coalition and the Peshmerga.
