President Nechirvan Barzani Visits Italy

President Nechirvan Barzani visited Italy for a series of high-level meetings with Italian leaders and officials. Led by his meeting with President Sergio Mattarella, the discussions focused on strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Italy, expanding cooperation across various sectors, and preserving peace and stability in the Middle East.

The meetings reflected Italy’s long-standing engagement with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. President Barzani discussed political and economic relations, opportunities for broader cooperation, regional developments, and the importance of dialogue in addressing tensions in the Middle East. In the meetings with Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, discussions also covered Italy’s continued support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, security cooperation, the fight against terrorism, and the role of Italian forces in advising and training the Peshmerga forces.
