Austrian Ambassador Axel Wech Welcomed to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Austria’s newly appointed Ambassador to Iraq, Axel Wech, was welcomed to the Kurdistan Region during a series of high-level meetings in Erbil with President Nechirvan Barzani, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and Minister Safeen Dizayee. Ambassador Wech was also received by President Masoud Barzani.

The meetings reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Austria and the Kurdistan Region, with Kurdistan Region officials and leaders expressing their appreciation for Austria’s continued support for the Region, as well as affirming full support for Ambassador Wech’s mission. Ambassador Wech reaffirmed Austria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

They covered the current situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations, regional developments, and the situation with the Global Coalition. All the meetings emphasized their shared commitment to strengthening ties and advancing cooperation.
