Prime Minister Barzani receives Croatian Republic’s Deputy Prime Minister

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani, yesterday received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Vesna Pusić, and her accompanying delegation.

Ms. Vesna Pusić stressed that Croatia is committed to continue its support to the Kurdistan Region at both military and humanitarian levels.

She expressed her appreciation to the people and government of Kurdistan for having been able to accommodate a large number of refugees and internally displaced persons and provide them with the necessary services, despite the limited resources of the Kurdistan Region.

Regarding the relations between Croatia and the Kurdistan Region, Ms. Vesna Pusić said that Croatia will open a consulate in Erbil in future.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his appreciation to the Croatian Republic for the assistance it is offering to the Kurdistan Region within the framework of the coalition forces. Also, he expressed the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to offer the required assistance for Croatian investments in the Kurdistan Region.

The latest developments in the relations between Baghdad and Erbil and the war against the Islamic State terrorist organization were topics also discussed in the meeting.

During her visit, Ms. Vesna Pusić will visit some institutions and organizations, including Kurdistan Region Parliament, as well as camps of refugees and IDPs.
